Tatay Louie is suffering from Kidney Failure/End Stage Renal Disease secondary to Chronic Glomerulonephritis and is on hemodialysis treatment...

Unfortunately, the cost for even basic medical attention in the Philippines is cripplingly expensive and it is getting to the point where Louie's family are not sure where the money will come from for the next weekly treatment. Every week they need to secure almost $100 for twice a week dialysis.

     - a house cat spends approximately 10,950 hours purring and 70% of its time sleeping in its lifetime.

     - an office worker spends 50 minutes a day looking for lost files and other items.

     - a man spends 51 minutes a day grooming and about five months of his life shaving.

     - a person will spend about five years eating and three years on a toilet.

     - you will laugh 15x a day, will walk the equivalent of 3x around the world and will eat about 60,000 pounds of food, that's the weight of about 6 elephants.

September: Speaking Through the Lens

“How great is our God who allows us

to enjoy, capture and share the wonder of His creations!”

This month’s theme, “Invest your time, don’t just spend it,” reminds me of one of the most valuable lessons of life. As I was taking pictures for this column, I was surprised that the vintage pendulum clock, the old Bundy and the rusty iron fence conveyed more thoughts to me when I captured them on my camera than when I just looked at them with my naked eyes.

The first picture shows that we don’t have all the time in the world. The second picture shows how we spend our time, what we do day in and day out, whether we consider our daily tasks as just a pointless routine or we take them as an opportunity to find meaning in our lives and to make a change in the lives of others by reflecting the light of Jesus.  The third picture shows that some things appear to be strong but they also rust out due some reasons such as inadequate maintenance and under utilization. And the last picture shows that no matter how expensive, classy and elegant a wood is, if not well taken care of, it will be eaten by insects and will eventually get ruined.
